Show notes (please see Timestamps below for more detail)
In this episode of The Greg Bennett Show, Greg and cohost Laura have a delightful conversation with Daniela Ryf.
Daniela Ryf guest is arguably the greatest Triathlete of all time. She’s at least very much a part of that conversation.
A Four-time Ironman World Champion and Kona course record holder of 8hrs 26 min. She’s a Five-time Ironman 70.3 World Champion, two-time Olympian, and U23 World Champion. Add to those world titles a multitude of European titles and her outstanding World Triathlon series win in 2010. And, when she wins, she doesn’t win by small margins, she often wins with such dominates that we wait minutes for the rest of the field to arrive... Oh, and she’s only 33.
She’s been a long-time friend of both Laura and me and we’ve enjoyed watching her rise over the years to the very top of the sport.
In part 1 of this episode, Daniela discusses what it's like to be back racing after such a long period away. And how much the year off helped her gain perspective and take control of her life. Daniela steps through the Ironman 70.3 wins in Dubai and St. George earlier this year and how she was able to test herself with no pressure in each. She describes her journey into the sport of Triathlon and the opportunities she grabbed to optimize herself.
In part 2, we dissect some of the career highlights for Daniela of which there have been many. We discuss her future and we end with some short fast questions, some of which were simply fun and others that required a little more self-reflection.
